A la Carte

This is our contract that breaks down all of our standard rates. You will be able to choose which services you need. If you are recording for the purposes of an Audition CD, Concert/Recital, or will not have music in your recording, you will want to consider one of our packages listed below.

Audition CD Recording Package

The CD format is the standard media that major music conservatories, schools of music, and competitions expect to receive with your applications. Do not dismiss the need for an Audition CD - even though live auditions may be preferred, many music programs require pre-screening CDs. Don't forget to check with the individual programs you are applying to! After your recording session, Musical Horizon will professionally edit all of your selections as a jury would expect for an audition.

Concert/Recital CD Recording Package

Whether you are performing solo, in a chamber group, or a larger ensemble, Musical Horizon will be able to provide you with our expertise in custom microphone placement. You do not want the microphones too close, or too far away - the perfect balance is very difficult to achieve in live concert settings. It is Musical Horizon's goal to reproduce your performance exactly as your audience heard it. After your performance we will professionally edit your performance to remove (as you wish) extra silence, applause, etc. Your CD can be tracked by movement, song, piece, or in any way you wish.

Editing

Our professional audio engineers are skilled at editing your projects. We know the importance of differentiating between pianos and fortes. For classical music recording, proper volume levels is one of the most important factors that must be taken into consideration during the editing process. We do not compress your audio, nor do we add digital effects in post production. Simply put, a classically-trained audio engineer will not produce your project in the same way as one who is only knowledgable about popular music. Musical Horizon is one of the few recording studios in the NJ/NY/PA area that specializes in classical music.

We have a video option with professional audio sound. Rumor has it that some college and conservatory auditions will soon demand a video sent on DVD. As it is now, more and more conservatories are requiring pre-screening Audio CDs before they will even consider inviting you for a live audition. Competition has always been stiff at schools of music and the selection process is becoming more demanding. Also, several past clients have shown interest in possibly having their concerts videotaped.
