Our slogan says it all! "We bring our studio to you!" No more traveling to the recording studio. Since Musical Horizon only records at your location, you will not have to worry about traveling to the studio and can spend precious time before your recording session preparing for your performance, rather than worrying about getting to your appointment on time. While our recording engineer sets up the equipment, feel free to warm up, practice, and rehearse your selections. Not only is this beneficial to you, it also helps our audio engineer decide which setup is most appropriately suited for you. Lastly, your recording session will take place in a familiar environment, with familiar acoustics. No more surprising echoes, or lack of necessary ambience.

There are very few recording studios that cater to the needs of the classical and acoustic musician. Almost all recording studios cater primarily, if not solely, to modern popular musicians, and very few recording engineers know what a classical recording should sound like. Most modern popular music relies upon special effects, such as virtual ambience created in post-production, in order to make the music sound the way it does. Musical Horizon does not apply these effects to our recordings, unless it is called for by the style and type of music being performed. Musical Horizon has at least one classically-trained musician on-site at every recording session at all times. By using specialized techniques including Custom Microphone Placement, our recording engineer will make your recording sound natural, just as if the listener was in the room with the performer. No more "I wish I could turn down the bass" syndrome or "why can I only hear the piano and why is it so shrill" issues!

Although, the recordings Musical Horizon is capable of producing, due to the nature of mobile recording environments, are not of the same quality as those produced at larger well-known recording studios, such as Sony BMG Music Entertainment in NYC, Musical Horizon's recordings are far superior than any home recordings produced with a handheld recording device, such as a tape cassette recorder, or MiniDisc recorder. Although, many musicians today own MiniDisc recording devices, which are great for day-to-day recordings, these recordings should not be used for any recording that you will be providing to a jury, either for a competition, or audition to a music conservatory, or music school. The microphones available for purchase that work with consumer MiniDisc recorders, are not professional grade and are inaccurate, and do not capture the full audio spectrum of your performance. The microphones chosen by Musical Horizon are designed specifically for use with acoustic instruments in acoustic environments. Depending upon the specific circumstances of your recording session, our audio engineer will decide which types of microphones to use, how many are required, and which microphone setups are appropriate for your specific recording location. Whether, you are recording in a concert hall, or in your living room, your recording will sound its best!

We do not use compressed audio! Many mobile recording engineers utilize the MiniDisc format, because MiniDisc recording devices are inexpensive, and usually lighter in physical weight, in comparison to devices that do not use compression. Sony's MiniDisc protocol, known as ATRAC, is only of similar quality as downloadable MP3s, and other compressed formats. Although these recordings sound accurate to the untrained ear, the final resulting compressed audio removes the frequencies beyond the average human hearing range. Depending upon how much compression is used, compressed audio can, and usually does, eliminate sounds as heard by the average person - sometimes the quality is even reduced to the quality of AM and FM radio broadcasts. Do not be fooled by those engineers that use MiniDisc, you will not be receiving a high quality recording.

Musical Horizon uses reliable safeguards to protect your recording session. We use dual hard drive recording. You do not have to worry about our recording devices running out of disk space, or the need to switch to a new CD after 60 minutes of recording time. Furthermore, dual recording allows us to save your recording session to two independent devices simultaneously. As always, it is better to have a backup system in place in case of human error. In most situations, one recording device records your entire session from beginning to end without any pauses. No more missing passages or lost pickup notes!

Classical musicians strive for perfection. Of course, one must understand, no recording is capable of reproducing a live performance. However, the clarity of each note is of utmost importance. Musical Horizon understands your needs.
